CLINICAL EXPERIENCE
Although the Program is primarily a research fellowship, each Fellow does provide care for general internal medicine patients, usually for one half day per week at a practice affiliated with their primary fellowship site. Fellows use this experience in the general internal medicine practices to increase their clinical skills and develop as teachers.

BETH ISRAEL DEACONESS MEDICAL CENTER
Healthcare Associates
Fellows practice at Healthcare Associates (HCA), the clinical practice of the Division of General Medicine. Recognized as a leading site for innovation in patient care and teaching, HCA is unique among Boston academic primary care practices in its integration of services reflected in its model of providing patient-centered, care delivered by a multi-disciplinary team. These services include mental health services and the anticoagulation management service. More than 42,000 patients consider HCA their primary care site. These patients represent a rich demographic, cultural and linguistic mix and account for over 100,000 visits each year. Other clinical programs within the Division include Hospital Medicine (Hospitalist) Program, Palliative Care Programs, Clinical Ethics Programs, and the College Health Program.
BRIGHAM & WOMEN'S HOSPITAL
Phyllis Jen Center for Primary Care
(Previously Brigham Internal Medicine Associates) provides comprehensive adult medical care. The practice includes 30 faculty internists, as well as fellows and residents. The primary care physicians provide routine health screening as well as complex diagnostic work-ups and treatment. All services are available on site at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. When inpatient care is required, patients may be admitted to Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Cambridge Health Alliance
Cambridge Health Alliance is a nationally recognized, award-winning public health care system that serves the residents of Cambridge, Somerville and Boston's Metro-North region. It is comprised of The Cambridge Hospital, Somerville Hospital, Whidden Memorial Hospital, the Cambridge Public Health Department, more than 20 primary care practices and Network Health - a Medicaid health plan.
DEPARTMENT OF POPULATION MEDICINE
Atrius Health
Most fellows practice at Atrius Health, a nonprofit healthcare leader delivering a system of connected care. Across 34 clinical locations, more than 50 specialties and 900 physicians, Atrius clinicians provide care to more than 740,000 adult and pediatric patients across eastern Massachusetts. Atrius is a major research partner of DPM for epidemiologic, intervention, and health services research.
MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL HOSPITAL
Fellows in the General Medicine Fellowship Program at MGH can choose to do their clinical work in one of several locations depending on their interests and opportunities at each center. Recent or current fellows have worked at the following sites:
Internal Medicine Associates Access Unit
The IMA Urgent Care/Access Unit provides existing IMA patients with scheduled appointments for immediate medical needs when they cannot be seen by their primary care physician. The center is staffed by IMA physicians, nurses, and nurse practitioners who coordinate with the patient's PCP. The Unit can provide IV fluids and IV antibiotics, perform minor procedures, obtain lab tests and x-rays.
MGH Charlestown HealthCare Center
The MGH Charlestown HealthCare Center offers comprehensive primary care for children, adolescents, adults and seniors from a convenient neighborhood location in the heart of Charlestown.
MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center
Massachusetts General Hospital’s Chelsea HealthCare Center, conveniently located in Chelsea, Massachusetts, provides personalized primary care for children, adolescents, and adults and has specialists in obstetrics, gynecology, cardiology, neurology, hematology, oncology, geriatric medicine, rehabilitation medicine, occupational health, and mental health.
Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program at MGH
Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program assures access to the highest quality of care for homeless men, women, and children in metropolitan Boston. Multidisciplinary teams at BHCHP deliver direct care services in over 78 sites, including a site located within MGH.
